Tooka-Foundation Suriname

The Tooka-Foundation (Tooka means Change/Transformation in the Saramacan language) is a Paramaribo-based non-governmental organization, fouded in 1991. Tooka intends to develop the interior of Suriname by

• improving the social and economic situation in the interior

• organizing sport-, recreation- and cultural activities

• pronoting ecotourisme as an employment-project

• starting production-units in the interior

• helping young people who have to come to Paramaribo to go to secondary schools

• working together with national and international organisations with the same object.

Since 1997 the main work of Tooka consists of assisting the Association of Saramacan Authorities (ASA) to make a stand for our landrights...
